Auctions

What Is An Auction?

An Auction is a strategically planned and marketed public event where an inventory of real or personal property is exposed for sale at a specific time.

In today's volatile and ever-fluctuating economy, it is extremely important that every business owner, banker, attorney, and private citizen be aware of every avenue available to them to convert frozen or dormant assets quickly into liquid cash. An Arwood auction is perhaps the best option to select because it exposes entire inventories of assets at a given time to an audience of qualified buyers who are prepared to bid on specific items. As a decision maker, you can be confident that every item will sell at some price, thereby eliminating any leftover inventory.

The Auction Process

Having determined that an auction is the appropriate course of action, we then sign a contract agreement which spells out the details of our duties and services. When properly conducted, an auction is fast, fun, fair, and very profitable to the seller. Often, it is our duty to "wear many hats," which requires us to have expertise in many different fields. In order for the auction process to run smoothly and yield the highest possible financial results, we follow a very thorough 4 point philosophy which consists of:

ADVERTISING

Our advertising staff will promote your auction to attract the largest turnout of qualified buyers. We prepare a pictorial brochure which is sent out to buyers on our international mailing list. Additionally, we utilize internet, newspaper ads, and on-site signage to achieve top promotional results for our clients.

MERCHANDISING, CATALOGING, & ARRANGING

There is a tremendous amount of preparation involved in planning for an auction. Cosmetic appearance of an item is directly related to its sale price; thus, the better something looks, the better it sells. Our set-up crews carefully organize and tag your inventory into salable categories so as to maximize return on investment. An itemized catalog detailing terms of sale, inventory, lot number, and description is prepared for distribution on sale day.

INSPECTION

Prospective purchasers want to preview the assets offered for sale. This viewing is normally held 1 or 2 days prior to the auction. Our sales staff is available to answer any questions, demonstrate operation aspects, and note the location of the item in the sale's format. Inspection day gives prospective buyers ample time to inspect the assets as to condition and value which translates into spirited bidding on auction day.

AUCTION EVENT

We believe that an auction should be fun as well as profitable; therefore, our auctions are well-organized as well as unique. Our staff is there to greet and register buyers, secure methods of payment, and answer any last-minute questions. Casual music is playing in the background as buyers help themselves to refreshments provided by our food caterers. As each lot comes available, our computer staff digitally streams a live broadcast feed via webcam displayed on flat-screen LED monitors so that people from all over the world can participate in the auction with digital bids as well as live verbal bids. To our knowledge, we are the only firm in the United States that offers this type of technology to our clients. A sale is recorded each time the auctioneer says "SOLD." Our computer staff keeps a running total so that we know the exact dollar amount sold at any given time. Our buyers receive a detailed invoice, and our clients receive an accurate accounting final statement of all sold assets.

Defensible Appraisal Reports

Arwood appraisals are defensible in court. If we see an item, research it in our extensive database, and place a value on it (factoring all physical and economic conditions), then we can stand confidently by our valuations under court examination. We "say what we mean AND mean what we say"; therefore, all Arwood appraisals are accurate, substantiated, irrefutable, defensible, and can withstand scrutiny.

Certified Industrial Appraisals

In the appraisal profession, anyone can give a random opinion as to what something might be worth; however, only a true professional can establish a value which is USPAP certified. USPAP stands for Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. In order to be USPAP certified, one must take a stringent educational course and then pass a written test as set forth by the guidelines of the Appraisers Qualification Board. There IS a difference! Don't gamble with the values of your collateral-based assets. Call us today for a free consultation.
